Spring, and the fun exciting events that come with it, is just around the corner. In Victoria, BC we’re seeing buds on the trees and new growth on the ground, while the rest of the country is still buried under drifts. Known for one of the most temperate climates in Canada, our beautiful city explodes with fresh green leaves, fragrant cherry blossoms, and colourful azaleas.

If you’re hungry or thirsty

Victoria’s Beer Week is a nine-day festival featuring the best of BC craft breweries, with special educational speakers and tasting panels. Whether you’re a hipster looking for a new unique craft brew or you want to expand your beer knowledge beyond cans, there’s something new and exciting for everyone.

Enjoy exploring the craft of brewing with smaller tastings, seminars, and micro-events at various venues throughout the week. Tickets are available for individual events – the schedule of events has ticket purchase information. Volunteer opportunities are also available!

Taste and Talk with local wineries, distilleries, and breweries in Brentwood Bay Resort & Spa’s elegant dining room. Seminars are hosted once per month and include tastings paired with complementary small plates. Not only is there good drink, but you will enjoy conversations about the science and art of winemaking and distillery. Tickets are $25 per person.

Learn and Explore Arts and Culture

Atomos, a ballet production by the Company Wayne MacGregor, weaves the art of ballet into a contemporary style. MacGregor was the primary choreographer for the Royal Ballet before launching his own dance troupe. This performance is a blend of science and art. Performances are March 16 and 17, at 7:30 PM in the Royal Theatre.

One World, a theatre production by Pearson College (UWC) students. This production — an inspiring cumulation of dance, song and international collaboration – will showcase the talents of the 180 students, from all over the world, who attend Pearson College in Metchosin BC. This rare collaborative showcase brings the music, dance and stories of 80 different countries right to Victoria’s doorstep, with all Pearson College students working together to create each aspect of the production — from choreography, writing and costumes to lighting, sound and tech.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year allows you to view nature without stepping foot outside. From sweet close-ups to exciting action shots, this exhibition showcases images that tell breathtaking stories of our natural world with exemplary technical skill. The 100 winning photos displayed in a dramatic setting and captured by the foremost nature photographers and wildlife experts. The display is at the Royal BC Museum and runs until April 2. Hours are 10 am to 5 pm; visit the museum website for details.

The Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival is a series of productions in different styles of dance by some of the most promising youth performers in the area. The Highlights Concerts feature music, dance, dramatic arts, and spoken word. The Festival begins April 4th and lasts until May 12. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels – The Broadway Musical brings to the stage the story of two con men wooing an innocent ingenue on the French Riviera. Enjoy the twists and turns as each gentleman attempts to increase his fortunes through a beautiful girl. There are several performances in March.

Expositions and Trade Shows

Victoria Spring Home Expo is fun for anyone who is building, remodeling, or just looking for ideas. Admission to the event is free; visitors can expect to see the latest in home interior trends, newest home improvement products, and some live talks and demonstrations. Capital City Comic Con is the first ever in Victoria. The Con lasts the full, event-packed weekend of March 16, 2018, to March 18, 2018.
